Within six months after that, the hospital should learn whether it has achieved verification. The next step in the process comes May 23-24, when Good Samaritan receives a site visit from the American College of Surgeons - the organization that verifies whether hospitals have met standards of trauma care. Of those, close to 90 percent have received all of their care at Good Samaritan. Over the last 12 months, Pargin said, Good Samaritan has treated 763 trauma patients. Mary's and Deaconess have been wonderful resources for us in getting us where we are now,' said Mary Pargin, Good Samaritan's trauma program manager. As the statewide system is structured, existing trauma centers are expected to help other regional facilities build their own trauma systems.
